Public Domain MATLAB ETH Zurich

This public domain MATLAB is made available for students who wish to use MATLAB only rarely. Otherwise, please buy the student edition of MATLAB as made available to students of ETHZ at a very attractive price. This public domain version is very simple and does offer less functionality than the commercial versions.

Public domain MATLAB offers the same basic, numerical functionality as its commercial counterparts; however, it offers no toolboxes and only a simple user interface.

• Version 2.0.2: This release uses a newer Fortran compiler that supports a less modal use of MATLAB under MacOS Classic. This version also allows you to resize the window. However, not all functions work. E.g. MATLAB command PLOT may crash the application. Tested up to Intel Macs running Basilisk.
• Version 2.0 Mac: This release uses an old Fortran compiler that supports only a modal use of MATLAB under MacOS Classic. For instance the window can't be resized. The advantage of this version is that all functions fully work, albeit a bit old-fashioned (e.g. PLOT function is a print plot). Tested up to Intel Macs running Basilisk.

What is MATLAB?

MATLAB allows to perform interactively linear algebraic operations with vectors and matrices by numerical computations.

How to learn MATLAB?

There are many useful tutorials available on the web and some even within this release. I can recommend:
